DEVELOPMENT - 'News' page completed

Today I have finished the content within my 'News' page, therefore each web page has information on. The only part of my web page which is incomplete is the bottom part of my home page. This is what I plan to finish next and from here I can obtain feedback from my peers and make improvements to my website.

This is my 'News' page:

I have included the featured stories that are on my home page and other recent stories and the band's weekly news. For the four main articles on the left hand side I have included images which relate to the article. For example, there is an article which is about Kings of Leon headlining at Reading Festival 2011 and so I have related this article with the image of the main stage at Reading Festival.

I have kept the house style of my website in mind when creating this web page, therefore I have kept the colour scheme of red, white, black and #75858F consistent on this page.

DEVELOPMENT - Re-shoot of footage completed

This morning me and Kate re-shoot some of our footage that we planned to do last week after receiving feedback from our peers and identifying some improvements. We filmed at my house to film the Facebook part of our video which is essential to demonstrate the meaning of our video and help the story develop throughout it. We only used the camera for the filming because they we were filming over-the-shoulder shots, therefore no other equipment was required.

After completing our re-shoot, we have realised we also need to undertake some extra filming of our boy model. Therefore I am going to arrange for this filming to be done on Sunday morning at the bottom of my road. I will organise this so that our boy model is wearing the same outfit from the last we was filming to ensure this matches and keeps the mise-en-scene consistent. I will also need to arrange to have the equipment on this day so I will arrange this with the other people in my media class who have the camera at the moment so that this re-shoot will be possible.

Me and Kate have written down what we will need to shoot on this day which has enabled us to work out the locations we can use so that this can be arranged. We will have a meeting with the two other members in our group to tell them our plan of action and see if they have any input into our idea.

DEVELOPMENT - Video Editing & Arranging Re-shoot

Today I continued editing our music video with Kate and we were able to import more of our footage to create our rough cut. We imported the majority of our footage from London, this included our footage in Trafalgar Square, Borough Market and Embankment. We used the cutting tool to create a rough cut for each of these scenes.

We obtained feedback from our peers about our video and from this we have changed some of our ideas for the editing and have decided to re shoot some of our footage because we have realised the story is not shown clearly at the beginning of the video.

We have also had a change in idea of how to display one of the elements of our story which is the part to show the girl's friends dropping out throughout the day as they are unable to go out to London. This is shown through images of texts on here phone throughout the first half of the video to symbolise her loneliness for the rest of the video.

We created these graphics using Adobe Photoshop and put the phone images on a green screen so that we could use the green screen tool on Adobe Premiere Pro. We incorporated them into our video by importing them into the second layer and removing the green screen so that the graphic overlaps our footage. We added a tilt which enabled us to have them appearing during shots to display the story.

We have also decided to re shoot next Thursday and film over the shoulder shots of our model receiving these texts on a mobile phone and zooming into them. We plan to re shoot next week and after completing this we will compare the two methods and decide which one we think will work the best for the mise-en-scene of our video.

I have arranged to have the video camera and tripod for this day so we are able to undertake our re-shoot and I have created a list which explains what needs to be re-shot so nothing is missed and the shots will be correct in order to be edited into our rough cut.

DEVELOPMENT - Video Editing

This morning I continued editing our footage for our music video. I completed the beginning thirty seconds of the video by using the table I have previously produced which states the order of the files and what they contain. I worked through our folders of footage in order to import them into Adobe Premiere Pro and create a rough cut of the beginning stages of the video.

Later on today, me and Kate are staying behind school hours to continue our rough cut and we have also planned to add video transitions to our footage. We hope to complete the next section of our footage which involves our model coming out of the house, walking down the road and arriving at the train station.

DEVELOPMENT - Video editing

Today me and Kate continued to edit our footage for our music video. We sorted through the final parts of our footage which were not in folders and from here we began to import the footage for the beginning stages of our music video.

We began editing the footage from my house and my road which appears in the early stages of the video. Together we used our storyboard and cut our footage and inserted transitions in order to achieve what we have previously planned.

Tomorrow we plan to stay behind and continue to edit more of our footage and complete the beginning of our music video.

DEVELOPMENT - Organising our files

Within the two media classes, each media group has access to their own 'trimedia' folder in which the members in the group all have access to it and can store any files into it.

The folder for our group is 'trimedia2' which each of us uses to store our files for our individual ancillary tasks and the footage for our music video. This means that all of our stuff can be stored in the same place and we can access each other’s work.

'trimedia2' folder:

This folder was extremely useful when Vanessa was creating her poster about Kings of Leon's gigs because I have already included tour dates on my website which needed to match to the poster. Having the trimedia2 folder enabled Vanessa to access my website and obtain the tour dates.

In addition, I took photos when we visited London and undertook filming at a studio and having the 'trimedia2' folder enabled me to upload these photos so that the other members of my group had access to them to add them to their own blog.

This is also the folder we refer to when we get our footage uploaded because this is where it is located. Within this folder I have inserted several folders to organise our footage, for example there is a folder named 'London footage' which includes all of our footage from London.

During a two hour practical lesson, Kate began to organise our London footage into sub folders which are named after the different locations that we shot at. She named these folders and began to look through the footage which she renamed and put them into the appropriate folders. I helped her with this in a lesson after in order to complete this and ensure that all of our footage was there and grouped together correctly.

I also started to create a table which stated the order of the shots with the name of their files and what happens in the shot. By undertaking this and rearranging the files into folders this will make the editing process much easier when accessing the different files we want to import.

For example, this is the folder for 'Borough Market' which consists of all the footage that was taken at this location. This means that for when we are editing and want to import the footage from Borough Market we can access it all from this folder.

DEVELOPMENT - News page on website

The News page of my website is the last page that I need to create. By using my plans of my website I have followed the layout and conventions and have began the design of it in Adobe Dreamweaver. Here is my initial start of this page where I have created the boxes using AP Div layers to create the borders and the different sections for the articles.
I have also included images that relate to the topic of each article. When I started my website I saved my home page as a template which enabled me to use it for the rest of the pages so that the header and navigation bar was a constant feature on each web page. Therefore for this page all I had to do was insert the content for this page.

DEVELOPMENT - Creating Flash video & importing into Dreamweaver

In my website plans I have included a video on my home page of behind the scenes of our filming from a studio. To do this I had to import the video into Adobe Flash to convert it to a Flash Movie and from here I can import this file into Adobe Dreamweaver.

I imported the video into Flash and had to use the advanced settings to choose the type of video it convert it into, the skin to be used which shows the controls for the video and I also cropped the video.
