DEVELOPMENT - Continuining with video editing!

Today me and Kate continued to edit our music video. We imported the footage that we re-shot last week and have cut this and added it to our timeline. This has made sure that the narrative of the story is clearer to the audience at the beginning of the video.

We occurred a problem with a part of our footage and resolved this by moving it to the beginning of the video before the song starts. We added a black screen at the beginning and inserted a dip to black dissolve so it fades into the opening footage. In addition, we added a cross dissolve to the beginning footage to link it altogether and prevent the jumps in between cuts.
Here is the beginning part of our timeline which consists of the black screen, dip to black dissolve and cross dissolves. This is where we imported our re-shot footage which was the filming of Facebook which explains that the girl in our video is having a day out in London and our narrative develops from there.
This is the menu we used to drag and add the cross dissolve and dip to black dissolve to our timeline.

We also edited the position of one of our shots because our model's head appeared to be cut off at the end of the shot. Therefore we edited the positioning and cropped our shot in order to prevent this from happening.

We also have another shot in our video which consists of our model standing still and crowds walking past her. We filmed this shot so that once we started editing we could speed this shot up to show her standing alone and everyone moving quickly around her. This shot is for mise-en-scene to show that she is a lonely girl in a big city as the shot is set in Trafalgar Square.

To achieve this shot we changed the speed/duration of the shot to speed everyone walking around her. This works as our model is standing still and so it appears that it has been filmed over a long period of time, but in fact we filmed it for three minutes.

We altered the speed of the shot in order to create the effect we wanted. After the alteration, we decided to use the speed of 2000% which creates a quick movement which fits in with the speed of our song.
