DEVELOPMENT - Rough cut is nearly finished!

Today during our practical lesson we focused on our band shots and finishing the end sequence. We imported our studio footage which we cut and altered the speed/duration in order to achieve lip syncing. These shots included close ups of the singer, close and mid shots of the bass guitarist and a mid shot of the drummer. Together we created a range of band shots which are featured throughout the video.

From obtaining feedback from our peers, we have identified that some of the band shots can be extended as a few of them appear to short. Therefore this is an improvement we shall make when we are next video editing. We also need to add motion such as position, zoom and rotation by inserting key frames and altering these effects within our shots.

From receiving other feedback from our peers, we have chosen to add a dip to white effect between the band shots and narrative to create a flashback which distinguishes the two sections throughout the video. This makes it clear to the audience when there is a band shot and when the story is telling the narrative. This convention has also been used in an existing video which is (find video)

Once we added the dip to white effect to our timeline, we had to alter the start and end to ensure the effect did not last too long and did not appear as a flash on the screen due to it being too quick. Therefore we altered this to how we wanted it and wrote the measurements down which we then used for when we added more of this effect later on in the timeline.
We also completed the end sequence of our video which consists of the footage from Trafalgar Square when the boy and girl meet in front of the fountain. The sequence consists of the girl and boy throwing pennies into the fountain as if they are making a wish, and these series of shots are quick cuts of them noticing eachother which builds up to the end shot. There are cuts of close ups of each of them walking around the fountain where they meet in the middle. The video then cuts to the end band shot of a close up of our singer and from here it cuts to the final shot of the video,

This shot is slower than the rest of the shots within the video because this represents that they have found each other and that the video is coming to an end. This slow movement also matches with the slow tempo of the song. We have a final band shot and from here it fades to the two models in front of the fountain which slowly zooms and dips to black to end the video.
